The amount of time
Good day!
I have been shocked with the amount of work this all takes. I'm not going to lie I kind of assumed that because I enjoyed what I was doing this would not be work, and although I am enjoying doing it, keeping myself on task is difficult. Not only time but money. Trying to find the most affordable way of doing this is difficult. A small container of paint from your local game shop is going to cost you just around $5. For one container, paint brushes will be as much as $9. You can always use cheaper paint from a craft store but the paints made for mini is nicer because it is a little thinner so that it can get into the small little detail work of your mini's and it still holds the color well. Having a small detail brush is important. You need something that you can get into those small spaces and be defined.
As far as terrain goes I know that building your own from scraps around your house is the cheapest option. I personally am a little more artist than maybe the average (not much though) and I still find it hard to build different terrain. There are video's out there to help you build and create awesome terrain but some time you still have to spend a pretty penny to get the tools you need.
Here are a few things I felt were essential to my success:
1. Hot glue gun
2. Hot foam cutter
3. A nice set of paint brushes
4. Air brush (to cover more pieces faster)
5. A huge space to craft in
